ALICE HORTON

Alice is considered by many to be the Horton family Matriarch. She was born in Salem to a blue-collar family and was Tom Horton's high school sweetheart. Together, they had five children: Tommy, Addie (deceased), Bill, Mickey and Marie. Alice is seen as the quintessential mother, whose trademark is unconditional love and loyalty. After her children and grandchildren left the house, she became the Director of Volunteers at University Hospital. When the Community Center burned down, she convinced Tom to open up their home as the new community center. After her children and grandchildren left the house, she became the Director of Volunteers at University Hospital. Alice and Tom had been married more than 50 years when he died in 1994. Her faith in God and her own personal courage persevered and saw her through. She continues to lend a kind ear, loving heart and sage advice to the family and friends who surround her.
