When Brady arrives at her cell, Nicole thinks he is going to blast her for what she's done. She soon realizes that Brady doesn't know she's in jail for the baby switch. Nicole decides not to tell him the truth and, instead, convinces him to post bail. Once free, Nicole sets off to find Sydney. Meanwhile, Brady tells Arianna that Nicole's been arrested and he paid her bail. Arianna tells him he's out of his mind.

Stefano returns from seclusion just as EJ realizes his father was responsible for Matteo accusing EJ of the hit on Rafe. Stefano still refuses to tell EJ why he put the hit on Rafe. EJ puts the pieces together and realizes his father knew about the baby switch. Enraged, he starts to throttle him.

Rafe fills Arianna in on Nicole's arrest, seemingly unaware he's being watched. But as he leaves the pub, he unmasks the mysterious watcher and finds his and Arianna's sister, Gabi. Gabi claims their mother sent her because she's worried about Rafe and Arianna. She plans only to stay through the holidays. She senses Arianna's unhappiness with her hanging around. Later, Gabi tells Rafe how much she missed him. Rafe tells her about Arianna's boyfriend and Gabi wonders if he knows she was in prison. She would hate to see her hurt again.

Stephanie pulls back from telling Nathan she thinks he's making a mistake being with Melanie. Nathan senses something is upsetting her and persists. She's about to tell him when she learns of his date with Melanie. When Maxine tells Stephanie she needs an intern to take on the late shift, Stephanie recommends Nathan, who is forced to break his date with Melanie. Later, Stephanie tells him she's not going home and will stay at the hospital to help him with whatever he needs. Nathan is very grateful. Meanwhile, Philip pays off a guy Melanie scammed in Europe. Philip is amused by Melanie's exploits. Melanie asks him not to tell Nathan. Philip wonders why she cares what Nathan thinks and wants her to admit she has feelings for him. Melanie abruptly kisses him.
